Reference Chat limited Nov. 15/16

Your Harrison College llibrarians are learning too!  On Tuesday and Wednesday, November 15 and 16, all of the Harrison College librarians will be attending a conference.  While we may still be available to assist students with Chat Reference periodically, we may be offline for extended periods of time.  Please email your local librarian, or Harrison.Librarian@Harrison.edu, for assistance if a live chatting librarian is not available.

11/4 Friday, LRCs closed

All Harrison LRCs will be closed on Friday, November 4 for a college-wide staff event.  Chat Reference will also be unavailable.
Chat Reference will return on Saturday 11/5 from 8:30am-6:30pm and on Sunday 11/6 from 1pm-6pm.

Special Sunday Chat Oct. 30 & Nov 6

Harrison librarians will be online and available for live Chat Reference assistance for special Sunday Chat Sessions on October 30 (because of Midterms) and on November 6 (because of Midterm Course starts).  Please stop by and chat with a librarian for help researching or other needs on these days.

Sunday Oct. 2 Chat with a Librarian

A special New Quarter Sunday Reference Chat session will be available on Sunday, October 2 from 1pm-6pm (Eastern).  Please stop by the LRC website to Chat with a Librarian about your assignments or research needs.

Chat Available Sunday Sept. 11

Because of Summer Quarter Finals week, a special Chat Reference session will be available on Sunday September 11, from 1:00pm-9:00pm EDT.  Chat will also be available M-Th 8:00am-8:30pm and on Fri 8:30am-6:30pm.

Labor Day: LRC Chat Unavailable

LRC Book Drive!

Did you know September is National Literacy Month??

The Learning Resource Center system will be holding a book drive throughout the months of September and October to support National Literacy Month. All LRCs will be accepting donations of gently used adult and children’s books.  Following the book drive, general donations will be made to The Julian Center and Operation Paperback.  Some LRC’s will also be making donations to local charities in their area.  For specific information on where your donations are going, please see the information below and speak with your campus librarian.  We hope you will join us in supporting National Literacy Month!

Donation Information:

The Julian Center is an Indianapolis, IN facility that provides support and services to victims of domestic violence. Visit www.juliancenter.org for more information!

Operation Paperback is a non-profit organization that sends gently used paperbacks to American troops deployed overseas. Visit www.operationpaperback.org for more information!

The Anderson LRC is joining forces with the Anderson Harrison Service Program to collect books for three charities:

·         Adult Literacy Book-Nook

·         Support the Troops

·         Children’s books for the Back Pack Attack program.

In Lafayette any kids and young adult books that are collected in the LRC will be donated to the Tippecanoe County Boys and Girl’s club.

The Ft. Wayne LRC will be partnering with their Criminal Justice student organization to gather donations.

East LRC Closed Friday, August 5th

Indianapolis East Campus LRC will be closed all day Friday, August 5th.  We will reopen 7:30 am Monday.

Indianapolis Downtown: Summer Friday Hours

The Indianapolis Downtown LRC will be open shortened hours on FRIDAYS the remainder of the Summer Quarter (June 27 - September 17):

Monday - Thursday 7:30am - 9:00pm
FRIDAY 8:00am - 3:00pm
Saturday 8:30am - 1:00pm

We will resume normal Friday hours (8-4) starting fall quarter.
The LRC will be closed Friday, August 5th.

Special Sunday Chat Reference Hours!

The Harrison College LRC Live Chat Reference Service will be expanding service hours to provide extra reference help to those students who are taking Midterm Exams or taking advantage of Harrison's new Mid-Quarter Starts. On Sunday, July 31st, and August 7th, the Chat Reference service will be live from 1 to 6 p.m.

Normal Summer hours of operation are:
Mon-Thurs: 8 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Fri-Sat: 8:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Sunday: Closed

East LRC: Hours Back to Normal!

Indianapolis East LRC hours are back to normal, beginning Monday, August 1st.  Those hours are:

The Indianapolis-East LRC hours are:

New virtual Chat Reference Hours

The Harrison College LRC has new Virtual Chat Reference hours for Summer Quarter.  Minor changes include additional hours on Saturdays and a reduction of Sunday hours.

Our New Catalog: H-Cat

The Harrison LRCs have changed to a new public catalog that we're calling H-Cat.  The new catalog can be accessed at http://harrison.worldcat.org/.  Not only does it show you everything available from you Harrison College and Chef's Academy learning resource centers and databases, but also resources from around the country that we might be able to borrow for you.  Learn more from your local librarian or though Ask a Librarian chat.
